Zine Month 2025: Creators of Color
Griots, teddy bears, and heroic flashbacks walk into a bar.

It’s raining zines for ‘tis the season! The eruption of energy in the indie design scene during the month of February is always exciting, but it’s very easy for smaller creators—especially creators of color—to get lost in the crowd. So, as a service, I’ve done the diving, read the credits, looked at the art, checked the previews, and put together a list of interesting projects that caught my eye. The tragic part is that it didn’t take long because I couldn’t find that many projects led by non-White designers. While I’m sure I missed some deserving projects (there isn’t a centralized way to do this), I hope you’ll give those on the list a second glance.
That said, the usual disclaimer that these projects are crowdfunding and in various degrees of complete-ness. Whenever there are preview versions or older editions, I’ve usually gone through them and put a link where you can do the same. If there isn’t, I’m mostly relying on vibes and the marketing pitch.
