Vortext of Blood: A solo Night Office adventure
A new Night Office solo game with tarot cards and space jellies

Feather Made Games is delighted to launch of Vortext of Blood, the newest Night Office solo branching narrative adventure. This time around, you’re exploring the labryinthian world of eldritch monstrosities and space jellies as a Guide, the magico-temporal sensistive member of a Night Office field team. Vortext of Blood is funding now on Kickstarter during ZineQuest 2025.

Looking into the Way is dangerous. You can see forward and backward and sideways in time and space. This is how the space jellies come at you, and every Night Office field team needs a Guide that can see into nth-dimensional space and chew gum at the same time. But practicing this sort of dimensional peeking and seeking isn’t the sort of thing you can do in a group setting. That’s where Night Office training manuals come in handy. Vortext of Blood is a Key Manipulative Exercise, where you may explore a mentally fabricated space with just your wits and your imagination (and a deck of tarot cards). Flex some cards along the way and see what oozes through the walls. Shatter some reality and make it back alive: that’s the spirt of the thing.
As you venture through the various id-chambers and subliminal grottos of your subconscious, you’ll use the cards for resource management, narrative engagement, and psycho-spiritual tuning. Every path leads into the Way, but only clever and adroit use of the cards will reveal the route out.

The Night Office series of training manuals are an on-going effort by the Night Office to locate, educate, and recruit individuals who are eager to help save humanity from certain doom. Fighting space jellies is a tough job—the attrition rate is very high—and the Night Office firmly believes that you can’t be too prepared to fight tentacled monsters from other dimensions. Vortext of Blood is the latest solo training guide, and the Key Manipulative Exercise format offers a more advanced level of engagement from their more traditional Pick Your Grisly Death branching narrative model.
The Kickstarter campaign runs through March 11th.

The Night Office books are designed and written by Mark Teppo, a Pacific Northwest writer and publisher. He doesn’t get a commission on new hires, though he does sleep better at night knowing folks are better prepared for a space jelly attack.
