Roller-blading to school with a piece of toast in your mouth was hard enough, but the dumpster mech wrecking the front gates pretty much guarantees that you’re gonna be late to class again. Tooth and claw won’t be enough for this one—grab your friends, scavenge some trash, and transform!

Trash to Treasure is a tabletop roleplaying game about trash goblin magical girls who focus their feral energy into cleaning up the environment. Armed with magical powers fueled by urban pollution, you’ll set out on a quest to rescue your familiars from the magical corruption afflicting them.

Some of Burnie's abilities

Inspired by Rowan, Rook and Decard’s Eat the Reich, Trash to Treasure uses a modified version of the Havoc Engine. It features the same lightweight d6 dice pool system that makes lightning-fast, high stakes action a breeze! You’ll play a team of magical girl trash goblins, each themed after a different element of urban pollution and leverage their powers to save your city from the corruption at its heart.

In addition to the core Havoc Engine and in keeping with our magical girl theme, you’ll build up momentum as you fight alongside your friends. When you need it most, team up with your allies to unleash potent combo moves to defeat powerful foes or restore environments badly damaged by pollution.

Some of Haze's abilities

Encounters have the same frenetic pacing we love in the core Havoc Engine, while some tinkering with the objective system has given each new scene a fun, puzzle-like feeling. Some threats and objectives may be more difficult to achieve through fighting alone, rewarding the clever use of your skills, abilities, and resources. Not to worry though: You’re still goblins, and we still encourage the linear application of extreme violence in most cases.

In Trash to Treasure, you’ll declare your intent, build a pool of dice to represent your character's success in the scene, then unleash your inner goblin and roll a fistful of dice. Spend successful dice to achieve objectives, fight trash monstrosities, defend against incoming damage, or scavenge for trash to fuel your magic.

Haze's corrupted familiar, one of several boss encounters

As you fight your way through each of your familiar’s domains and restore them, you’ll grow in power until you’re able to confront the mysterious entity responsible for the strange magical experiments and rampant environmental destruction.

As a short form game, players can expect 3-5 action-packed sessions of about 2 hours each. Loaded with the ability to brew new places, powers, and problems, you can revisit the city as new characters, make a place entirely your own, or follow up on the epic events of your first game.

Trash to Treasure is coming to Kickstarter on October 15th. Follow the campaign page to learn more and be there right at launch!

Trash to Treasure is by Jonathon Boyle and Bri de Danann of Bright Bard Games.

P.S. to dice goblins: We have some handcrafted, artisan surprises from the inimitable Yaniir in store for you! You’ll have to be quick, as we’ll only have a limited run of these available.
