Punk Rock in the Cthulhu Mythos
Whether you're anti-social or anti-establishment, you'll definitely want to check out The Curse of Punk.
It's 1985, and punk is alive. Does your band have what it takes to save a city from a fate worse than death?
Welcome to The Curse of Punk, a Call of Cthulhu scenario set entirely in the beating heart of the punk movement. This scenario blends together the iconic counter-culture of the 1980's with the entropic nature of the Cthulhu mythos to create a truly unforgettable and mind-shattering experience.
This scenario is available now, and it can be found on DriveThruRPG in the Miskatonic Repository.
Set in the fictional city of Osterberg, California, one local band has been secretly chosen. For what? They don't know. Will they survive? They'll wish they hadn't.
Players will assume the roles of a local punk band, with four pre-generated character options to get gameplay started. They each have expertise in their chosen instrument, and all of them offer players unique backgrounds that can tie them into the setting and story with personal connections to their misfortunate hometown.
This release contains thirty-five punk 'zine-inspired pages that outline the story in easy-to-run sections, and contains five unique handouts to immerse your players into the scene. Keepers new and old will be able to utilize this material and can adjust them easily to fit the specific lineup that their players have chosen if they are making their own band.
Players will be presented with the opportunity to interact with rituals and spells inspired by the discordant discography of the punk scene in the 1980's, and they can encounter creatures and forces that make dealing with sellouts seem like a walk in the park. Punks of all kinds will be sure to also love the finale, which may or may not combine staple elements of a punk concert with the unspeakable horrors from beyond.
Whether you're anti-social or anti-establishment, you'll definitely want to check out The Curse of Punk.
