Slasher Horror TTRPG Final Girl Rising is Coming to Kickstarter October 22nd
Final Girl Rising, a Powered by the Apocalypse tabletop roleplaying game that explores and dissects the popular horror trope of the final girl, arrives just in time for spooky season.
On October 22, 2024 a crowdfunding campaign for tabletop roleplaying game fans of the slasher horror genre is coming to Kickstarter.
Final Girl Rising, a Powered by the Apocalypse tabletop roleplaying game that explores and dissects the popular horror trope of the final girl, arrives just in time for spooky season. In Final Girl Rising, players portray one of six horror movie heroine archetypes, doing whatever it takes to survive until the credits roll!
Playbooks are not only inspired by horror movie icons, such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Sally Hardesty, or the Halloween franchise's Laurie Strode, but draw inspiration from female character archetypes that rarely survive a typical slasher movie. In Final Girl Rising, the tropes that define these archetypes play to their strengths, rather than their weaknesses, to make each Playbook a unique and powerful experience.
Because there is safety in numbers, Final Girl Rising players also work cooperatively to ensure at least one character survives the terrifying ordeal. Death is not the end, however, as dead characters can continue to aid others through a special mechanic called "Channel the Spirit." This ensures that every player remains active and engaged, regardless of the high body count typical of the slasher genre.
Drowning Moon Studios, the publisher behind Final Girl Rising, is seeking funding to produce a hardcover, full-color version of the core rulebook, as well as a softcover supplement book packed with fast-paced scenarios, featuring colorful and iconic killers. Possible stretch goals include additional artwork by Nana Luv and Winston Clark, bonuses for contributors, and an actual play stream produced by Geek Public's Ryan Omega.
Final Girl Rising is an explosive tabletop roleplaying experience, and a love letter to the slasher genre, feminine horror, and the will to survive. Sign up here to be notified when the campaign goes live on October 22nd!
