Season eight of the Follow the Leader podcast begins!
Follow the Leader: an actual play podcast where anyone can take the lead!
This is a community submitted press release

Just shy of the podcast’s sixth anniversary, Follow the Leader is entering its eighth season. This LGBTQ+ actual-play podcast focuses on telling character-driven stories through the use of GM-less tabletop games where all players can take the lead. Each season is split into twelve arcs with each arc usually being 1-3 episodes that are 45-90 minutes in length.

Follow the Leader players use collaborative storytelling and world-building to create satisfying story arcs with a colorful cast of characters across different settings and genres. With stories ranging from fantasy to science-fiction to horror, there’s something for everyone.

Podcast co-founder, producer, and podcast-dad August says, “With stories ranging from fantasy to science-fiction to horror, there is something for everyone. Follow the Leader is a labor of love for us, and we are so happy to share what we’ve created with the world.”

The show is anthology-style, with most arcs standing independently of one another, so listeners can start anywhere. That doesn't mean there aren't recurring themes or storylines, however, as the players use a wide variety of games to tell some interweaving stories with slow-build mythologies. And the cast of characters is also recurring through the different settings and games.

“If you enjoy a character, more than likely they’ll be back, or you can find more appearances in the backlog,” said August.

Stories are told using games as familiar as Follow, by Ben Robbins, or more niche, like This Town Is Full Of Monsters by Aleks Samoylov, with a wide spread between. Season Eight begins with House by Marn S., which will be followed by Last Train to Bremen by Caro Asercion and Dead Friend by Lucian Kahn. Even more games are represented in the show’s backlog. For those who are curious about GM-less games, Follow the Leader is a great place to start.

Some story arcs to begin as a new listener include You Can Check Out Any Time You Like, But You Can Never Leave with guest Riley Hopkins (part 1, part 2), This Game Takes Place in Your Home Town (part 1, part 2), and the cliffhanger arc from season seven (part 1, part 2).
