RPGs for Accessible Gaming has officially launched, with over 240 games from 110 community creators for a donation of $10 or more to support DOTS RPG Project. In the tabletop industry, physical dice are plentiful for sighted individuals but scarce and often unaffordable for those who are blind or visually impaired. In 2024 DOTS RPG Project helped change that with the introduction of their Signature Braille RPG Dice. These 7 dice sets were the first mass produced Braille RPG Dice available in a retail setting worldwide, making tabletop gaming more accessible for blind gamers.

Money raised from the RPGs for Accessible Gaming charity bundle will help fund production for sets of d4s, d6s, d8s, and d10s of their Signature Braille Dice. These new sets will make dice rolling accessible to blind and visually impaired gamers for tabletop games that do not use a d20-based system.

“Our first priority with our braille dice was to release a 7-piece polyhedral set since the most popular tabletop roleplaying games use all of those dice. Unfortunately, these games aren't always accessible, said Jess Dempsey, Executive Director of DOTS RPG Project. “It took nearly 45 years for Dungeons & Dragons to be available in audiobook format from the National Library Service. Before that, people interested in learning the game had to work with sighted friends to make their own adaptations or find a different game to play that may have used a different dice system. Since everything we do is to create more accessible tabletop gaming experiences, we want to make sure to support as many games as possible! Popular titles like Vampire: The Masquerade, Shadowrun, GURPS, Call of Cthulhu, and more have systems that primarily use one die type. Using our existing braille dice design with the unique numbering system and Touch Point Edge, we're excited to start offering sets of individual dice types!”

This bundle offers 270 RPGs, RPG supplements, and art packs worth more than $700 for a donation of $10 or more to support DOTS RPG Project. The bundle will collect donations until March 22 with a fundraising goal of $30,000 (and beyond!) The fundraising goal of $30,000 would cover the initial cost of production for the sets of d4s, d6s, d8s, and d10s which would then become self-sustaining. Included tabletop roleplaying games like Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast and Rosewood Abbey and RPGs like Veranoia and  Periphery Synthetic can be previewed in advance of purchase on the bundle page among the hundreds of donated submissions.

If additional funds are raised beyond $30,000 they will go towards attendance costs associated with attending tabletop gaming conventions in 2025. At these conventions DOTS is able to bring the conversation of accessibility in tabletop gaming to a larger audience, offer one-on-one consulting, present on panels, and have their Signature Braille Dice available for blind and sighted people alike.
