The insect apocalypse: Paratype and the Highway to Extinction

At the end of the everything, embrace a new insect identity.

Play as a human in a post-apocalyptic world infested with giant mutant bugs in Paratype, a 3-5 player RPG about survival and adaptation. Splice your DNA with that of the new insect overlords to gain various mutations to help tackle your new ever changing environment.

Paratype is currently running a Crowdfunding campaign for a printed version of this new system alongside a brand new module Paratype: I-95, a long term campaign adventure about a road trip at the end of the world. This module introduces new skills, modifications, and an exciting new character category: Clones. Each location along your journey offers unique encounters, trades, allies, and enemies.

GAMEPLAY

The game runs on a standalone system using 20 sided and 6 sided dice and works for both short term and long term campaign settings. Each player begins as human with the ability to choose to splice themselves with the DNA of bugs they defeat along the way. Fighting isn't the only way to escape dangerous situations, Paratype features a Dialogue mechanic which can be used to de-escalate a situation. Stopping a fight before it even begins.Though the world may look bleak, it is not without hope, many humans are willing to make deals, sacrifices and even weary friendships.
