Gather as a Gang of children and run away. Before you become Adults and it's too late.
Night Fable is part RPG book, part image book, written, illustrated and designed by independent artist Elise Argence, a.k.a "Messire Yazu".
In Night Fable, you play as one of the many children of Tentapolis, trying to run away.
What made you ?
Maybe your parents were mean to you, or too absent, too busy to notice you ? Unless it’s all just a pretext, and it’s the uneasy feeling nagging you night & day which makes you want to leave the city, no matter the cost…
Night Fable is a tabletop RPG book written, illustrated and designed by independent artist Elise Argence, a.k.a "Messire Yazu". Equal parts game and illustrated book, it is a very personal work of art, about the struggles of being a wide-eyed child in a world where Adults decide everything, and, more broadly, of being different and finding hope and joy where all grown-ups can see is misery, toil, oppressive rules, and self-interest.
Based on simple stats and rolls, the game focuses on flavourful character options to define the children of the small Gang of runaways embodied by the PCs. The tight-knit group of friends will have to face dreadful horrors, avoid grave dangers, and confront the heartache plaguing the city to find how to escape.
Aside from a simple class & subclass system allowing groups who want their children characters to grow to level up (and even multiclass), and pared down equipment rules that don't get in the way, the game features descriptions and illustrations of the vertical city's floors and its residents, of its dangers and its curiosities, all supported by numerous encounter and location tables.
Will the children lose all Hope and fall into the Dark? Who will they meet? How will they survive a city which considers them an undesirable anomaly? And if they ever acquire power... what will they do with it?
Each Gang of children will have to decide for themselves, on their own adventure towards somewhere beyond the city walls.
