Mantigeist: A Social Deduction TTRPG
Mantigeist, A Horror-Inspired Social Deduction TTRPG Is Out Now On Itch.Io
In a remote Arctic research facility, a group of scientists are hunted by a monster that can take on any face, steal any voice, and hide in plain sight.
Mantigeist, a GM-less social deduction horror game created by award-winning TTRPG designer Jonathon 'Starshine' Greenall, has just launched on Itch.
Inspired by classic horror movies like The Thing and games like Among Us, players step into the shoes of a group of scientists working at a remote research laboratory. However, one player is secretly the Mantigeist, a shape-shifting monster that won't rest until it has killed every living being in the facility.
Mantigeist is played silently, with players only communicating via short text messages shared over Google Drive. However, players should choose their words carefully, as the Mantigeist can edit these messages, allowing it to sow discord among the group and frame others for its actions.
Plus, each game of Mantigeist only takes 2-3 hours from initial setup to completion, making it a perfect one-shot for virtual tabletop users or long-distance groups looking for something intense and spooky.
Features:
- Tense Social Deduction Gameplay - Players must work together to figure out which person is the monster, while the Mantigeist player works to sew discord and suspicion.
- Designed For Digital - Mantigeist is built around free online tools like Discord and Google Drive. Making it perfect for long-distance gaming or online-only groups.
- GM-Less Play - Mantigeist has no GM, meaning everyone gets to enjoy the action.
- Quick Setup - Simple rules and the included template files mean that games are ready to go in thirty minutes or less.
