This is a community submitted press release.

The Adventurer & Hobbyist Annual 2025 is a collection of system-adventurous scenarios, maps and more for use with your favorite tabletop roleplaying games!

This 2025 Annual contains scenarios that can be brought to the table in different ways. They are not system-neutral, agnostic to rules and structure. Rather, they are system-adventurous, leaning into styles of play and supporting game systems that align with the gameplay promise of each scenario.

In addition to a premise, characters and setting, each scenario includes:

  • Specific business to suit different approaches for play - a scenario could be played for goofy fun, bloody horror or slice-of-life adventure, supporting what best suits your table.
  • Original rules and structures to supplement a myriad of game systems in order to fulfill the promise of the scenario.
  • Characters described by how readywilling and able they are to serve as foils, antagonists or allies to your adventurers, enabling easy templating to your rules system of choice.
  • Scenario-specific hooks and custom rules for DreadWorld Wide Wrestling or Swords Without Master.

This full-color publication includes three scenarios suitable for play as one-shots or to kick off a long-running game; a minigame/adventure map illustrated by Tony Dowler; the Phantasmal Bibliography of resources submitted by Scholars from across the Unwritten Earths, and fantastic artwork by George Sellas, Mary Verhoeven, Meaghan Carter, and Drew Shields.

The Symposium is a joint effort between two friends with a combined half-century of experience designing, writing and publishing tabletop role-playing games.

  • Nathan D. Paoletta is known for The World Wide Wrestling Roleplaying GameAnnalise: Stories of Pain, Hunger & Redemption, and more. He lives in the Pacific Northwest where he seeks the wisdom of ancient forests and eternal tides.
  • Epidiah Ravachol is known for DreadSwords Without Master (found in Worlds Without Master Issue 3), and more. He resides in a Jurassic basin in Massachusetts where he absorbs the emanations of old bones beneath and young stars above.

Our inaugural original publication is this Adventurer & Hobbyist Annual 2025, but between us we've designed and published over 20 original roleplaying games and run 15 successful Kickstarter campaigns. We also talk about games, design and play on the Unwritten Earths Symposium Podcast, and we discourse with our Scholars in the Unwritten Earths Symposium Discord.

The Kickstarter for The Adventurer & Hobbyist Annual 2025 runs through the end of April. Come join us to make these Unwritten Earths a reality!
