Join in the festive fun with GGGE, an online gift exchange for TTRPG creatives
Give a gift, receive a gift. Peak goblin behaviour.
For the past four years, the Gregarious Goblin Gift Exchange (GGGE) has brought TTRPG designers and creatives together with the intent to foster the spirit of giving and spark some extra creativity during the festive season. Beginning as a "Secret Santa" style event, it has gone through a few incarnations since its inception in 2020 by Head Goblin, Thogreer Screamsong.
This year, with the mass exodus of many TTRPG creatives from a certain social media platform, the goblins behind the event have decided to opt for a platform-agnostic "blind exchange", where participants submit their gift via an online form in order to receive one in return at the end of the present-gathering period, without any knowledge of who will be receiving their creation.
GGGE is an open event that welcomes participants from anywhere in the world, and encourages both beginners and professionals to join. Those wishing to do so may send in gifts until December 20th, at which point the organisers will get to work on matching and distribution based on participants' form responses regarding their favourite TTRPGs and/or gifting preferences.
Gifts are digital only, so there's no need to provide any more contact information than an email address (the form does require a Google account in order to submit files). This is kept confidential by the organisers and is used for sending gifts at the conclusion of the exchange, or if an issue arises. Givers and giftees are not placed in contact during the event or notified of one another unless the creator includes their name on their gift, and there is no expectation of communication once the event has completed.
Those who are short on time can still participate, too: gifts may either be a brand new creation especially for the exchange, or an existing product that is for sale elsewhere (provided that it's the giver's own work and not available anywhere else for free).
"It's amazing to me that something so simple has resonated the last several years. I'm always inspired that people come together and share, especially first-time creators who had been hesitant to put their work out there. I've really tried to focus the event on being successful purely for enjoying the process rather than worrying about the promos, something by creators, for creators. I've said from the beginning, you don't need experience, just enthusiasm! Come join the fun!"
