Rule’s out forever

Digital rules for wargames, whether in the form of PDFs, apps, or websites, have been commonplace for a while, with a general trend towards making them free. Even the frequently stingy Games Workshop, which has put full functionality of its Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar apps behind two different paywalls, provides free rules for its miniature wargames. The exception tends to be smaller publishers that aren’t pushing a miniatures range alongside their games. When the rules themselves are the product, it’s not unreasonable to ask to be paid for them.

Corvus Belli, producer of Infinity and Warcrow, are renowned for maintaining a particularly robust digital offering, with both a rules wiki and an army builder freely available. The only things you need to buy from them to play the game are the miniatures themselves. For Infinity N5, the latest edition of the game, CB has taken a bold step and stopped producing physical rules altogether (with one exception, which we’ll get to later.)
