Halcyon Daze: A New Documentary About The Star Wars Immersive Experience
The short-lived Disney LARP left a lasting impression on the community that grew around it

Long ago (2022), in a galaxy far, far away (Bay Lake, Florida) the Disney corporation created Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser — an immersive LARP experience set in the beloved space opera franchise — and, by most accounts, it was a disaster. Last year, a four hour long viral video by YouTuber Jenny Nicholson broke down how Disney spent hundreds of millions of dollars creating the most ambitious roleplay-based experience the corporation had ever attempted, only for it to close less than two years later due to a myriad of factors. However, the community that formed around the LARP continued to exist beyond the corporate-sanctioned experience — and a currently crowdfunding documentary hopes to tell their story.
The independently produced Halcyon Daze: The Final Voyages of Disney's Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser looks to show the short-lived project from a new perspective with first-hand footage from the experience’s final week. The documentary will also include interviews with experts like LARP scholar Evan Torner and Starcruiser’s former Immersive Experience Director Caro Murphy, alongside other cast, crew, and fans of the project.
The team behind Halcyon Daze provided Rascal with an exclusive trailer for the film’s crowdfunding campaign.
