Glumdark Made Real
The splendors and horrors that the spider hath seen in a physical book
The best free resource on the web for dark fantasy tabletop roleplaying games is making the move to print. Glumdark is partnering with Exalted Funeral and Kickstarter to publish an original book with over 170 pages of richly illustrated, brutally evocative random tables and horrific tales.
The Glumdark Kickstarter will launch on January 22nd. Copies of Glumdark will be available hardbound or as a PDF. Cloth-bound deluxe editions will be available with original cover artwork from Johan Nohr, co-creator of Mörk Borg.
“This book is fucking sick,” Nohr says of Glumdark.
“We made the book that I want to have with me at the gaming table,” designer and co-author Christopher Drellow says, “there are literally thousands of ideas in here, and it’s organized so that I can easily add a new monster, treasure, trap, potion or character to my games immediately–fresh ideas and random chance to keep the session interesting.”
The Glumdark book contains:
- 55 system agnostic random tables.
- Over 50 pieces of original artwork from the artists Vil, Lett Morrison and Johan Nohr.
- Grim first-person fictional accounts of the horrors of the Glumdark world.
Backers may also choose to receive a tape cassette copy of an original dungeon synth album from Christopher Drellow (CTRO) produced exclusively for this release.
Glumdark is a book three years in the making, containing over 2,500 pieces of random content for players and game masters of dark fantasy tabletop roleplaying games. The project began with a website at https://www.glumdark.com, which grew organically by hosting parts of the book as it was being written.
The book’s design is deeply influenced by 15th century bookmaking. In that era, books were typeset with spaces left intentionally blank that artists would illustrate by hand. Glumdark was designed similarly, with illustrations drawn on finished layouts.
