Fire in the Spires Now on Kickstarter
This is a community submitted press release.

The People's Revolution has been stolen! The Revolutionary Council of Kyneburgh is corrupt! Was it the influence of those now dead nobles, the allure of treasures and money, or vile demonic magics? Whatever the cause, the people starve, the commoners riot, and the rich hide in their towers and send their bailiffs to beat us.

We must climb and root out the evil once more! We must burn down their spires!

Two page spread with a hand-painted graffiti font that says "What happened" above text that describes a failed evolution in a fantastical medieval city called Kyneburgh. Below the text is black vector art of rioters with banners and weapons.

Fire in the Spires is a single-player dungeon climbing TTRPG, and the sequel to my much loved dark single player dungeon crawler A Torch in the Dark. Much like in that game, you are tasked with fighting against corruption that threatens the fair city of Kyneburgh, and delving into dangerous places to do so. But this time you take control of a party of rebels, and must use your wits to try to make the most of their meager traits and talents to climb five towers full of brutish soldiers, cunning traps, and dark magics of twice-dead nobility.

The Kickstarter will fund both development and print copies of Fire in the Spires, and a revised edition and second printing of A Torch in the Dark! It runs from October 1st to the 15th.

White text and art on a black background. To the left is a single adventurer descending into a ruin. To the right three game modes are described.
Fire in the Spires will have different ways to engage with the dungeons inside!

Fire in the Spires is a standalone game. If you never played or read A Torch in the Dark, this game will be a good introduction to the new mechanics and lore of the world and history of Kyneburgh. If you loved A Torch in the Dark and don't want to engage in the new mechanics of assembling a crew of rebels, there will be ways for you to climb the spires of the rich and infamous with a single delver using their skills and items. Treat it like an expansion pack of five new dungeons with hundreds of new encounters!

Each of the five spies of Kyneburgh will offer insight into the ongoing revolution, present different paths for your to choose from, and will task you with interesting narrative and tactical challenges that your crew of rebels will need to overcome, or die trying. Using a hacked version of Blades in the Dark rules system, players assembles pools of six-sided dice to overcome encounters during climbs, and during downtime they can clear stress and damage, and recruit new rebels to the cause.

A two page spread showing the introduction and first few levels of the Seaside Citadel. Two paths are described, one dangerous but full of treasure, one simple but with more steps. The leftside describes the traitor Cal Voss and what she did in the citadel.
