Fat People Belong in Fantasy, Including TTRPGs
The power fantasy doesn’t have to mean being thin.

In the so-called “Ozempic era,” fat representation in media has taken a nosedive, leaving those who filled their feeds and recommendation lists with fat creators suddenly facing an influx of toxic diet culture messaging. However, in the TTRPG space, fat creators continue to carve out space for themselves and for characters who look like them.
“My characters have, and always will be, fat,” said Gloria AKA glowpinkstah, a variety streamer, actual-play producer, and performer. “As someone who has always wanted to see more fat representation in media I consume, books I read, or even APs, I want to be sure that I am also participating in it. When I signed up to be in Castleton on WintersTales, I thought it would be a great opportunity to play an unapologetically fat and sexy character. Thus, Desta was born!” Princess Desta is incredibly compelling: she’s heir to the throne and wields her political and social power with grace and charm. When she enters a room, she commands everyone’s attention.
“I believe it’s important to showcase not only this side of fat acceptance, but also portray someone who is a bit on the shy side and pleasantly average,” Gloria continued. “One of my characters, Dr. Matilda Cambridge, PhD doesn’t really wear makeup, or pay attention to her wardrobe, and keeps her focus on her work. The two are very different in that one’s hotness is obvious, while the other’s is subtle.”
