This is a community submitted press release.

Have you ever wanted to play a rules-lite TTRPG about being members of a Search & Rescue team? No, you'd never even considered it? Well, now that I've mentioned it, does that sound cool? Why do I keep asking questions? Read on and find out!

So That Others May Live is a genre-agnostic game about a squad of Search & Rescue personnel deployed in the wake of a disaster with the hope of saving as many people as possible. The nature of the destruction can vary, from natural to supernatural, from ancient to modern, or even from fantasy to science fiction. Whatever kind of setting you play in, the mission remains the same:

Save lives.

Unfortunately, that's always easier said than done.

So That Others May Live is a d6-based system with a twist and a lot of questions, built with a party of one GM and three players in mind. Success is always guaranteed, but there's often a price to pay.

Big problems, hard problems, delicate problems, each one comes with their own difficulties, and for every level of difficulty, the acting player rolls a die. Every die that comes up 4- begs a meaningful question that will drive the plot forward in dramatic ways. On the other hand, if the acting player can apply one of their keywords, then the situation gets a lot easier. If they do that, however, they'll definitely have to answer a special question.

Risk. Reward.

What are you willing to give up when lives are on the line?

So That Others May Live features a few examples of the kind of lore GMs and parties can use to create the world their table wants to run the system in. These examples are left broad and non-specific on purpose. Think of them as sparks to get the fire going before your players create the characters that will be leaping into the flames.

This also isn't the final form of the example lore section! There are already two more in development internally (one a play on hospital dramas, the other a journey to a digital realm), but the authors are accepting submissions as well.

From the time of the game's release until March 28th of 2025 (03/28/2025), you can submit your example lore for a chance to have it added to the book. The authors are looking for about 200 words per submission, which will then be edited by them to fit the book's format.

While this is not a paid writing opportunity, they will be including attribution with each piece and adding the names of all writers for included submissions to the contributors section that will be added to the copyright page with the rulebook's next update.

You can find the submission form here.

Now get out there. Face the winds, survive the snows, and try to get past whatever that...thing is with all the teeth that's stalking the streets.

Join a search & rescue party in So That Others May Live.
