https://itch.io/b/2945/every-party-needs-a-healer-the-baltimore-street-medic-bundle

With permission from the Baltimore Street Medic Collective, Natalie and Jax are hosting this bundle to raise money for a series of 20-hour street medic trainings. 20-hour trainings cover things like patient assessment, medical emergencies, consent, protest health and safety, medic tactics, and more. This year’s trainings will specifically focus on BIPOC medics, honoring the founders of the Street Medicine movement.

Funds from purchases of this bundle will go to:

  • Training materials
  • ASL interpreters
  • Food
  • Medic kits for medics who complete the course
  • Travel and lodging fees for trainers
  • Stipend for trainers
  • COVID-19 tests and masks

Don't want all those games, and want to give directly to Baltimore Street Medic Collective? That's great too! Click here to do that

What is a street medic?

Street medics provide first aid and medical support at protests, direct actions, uprisings, encampments, natural disaster sites, and within our local communities. The foundational education for becoming a street medic is a 20-hour training that covers a range of topics and skills, including patient assessment, consent, medical emergencies, protest health & safety, and more.

Why is this training especially important?

Our training in Spring 2025 will prioritize Black and Indigenous People of Color. The Street Medicine movement in the U.S. was founded by Black and Indigenous healthcare workers, but the street medic community is currently predominantly white in the Mid-Atlantic. This is due to racist barriers limiting BIPOC folks from accessing this training. Our Spring 2025 training will prioritize BIPOC trainees as a step toward repairing this harm and supporting Black & Indigenous sovereignty from the medical industrial complex.

What will funds be used for?

Accessibility is paramount to us as street medics. A significant portion of the funds ($5-6k) will be used to hire ASL interpreters and purchase COVID-19 tests and high-quality masks. Additional funds will be used to provide food during training sessions, supplies for training demos, medic kits for graduating trainees, and travel and lodging accommodations for trainers. If funding allows, we will also provide a stipend for trainers to compensate for their time and labor.

Any funds not used toward the Spring 2025 training will help us host additional trainings in the future!
