What is this?

Weltenbrand is a Gates of Gehenna-Game for 1-4 players with or without GM, self-styled as a chthonic tragedy, read "dark ancient fantasy" with an attempt at ancient greek mysticism.

In this chthonic tragedy, think dark ancient fantasy, you'll play in a world that breathes "Mad Max Meets Aristotle". Visit beautiful Cordis, home to Empire and City of Cities, to begin a journey that will take you to the furthest edges of the known world and beyond.

Discover old secrets and dark passages, as you best issues, opponents and struggles. Take four hopefuls on a journey as the last imperial Emissary. Your mission? To recover an artifact from a special place, without which Empire will fall. You must not fail.

In Detail

In Weltenbrand, you and up to 4 friends (of which one will have to gm if you're at 5) become the last imperial Emissary. Together, you are sent by the Empressa on a mission beyond the edge of the known world, to save the Cordian Empire from falling. You have no choice in the matter.

Taking on aspects, archetypes that can later be combined to special character types, you develop unique personalities and histories as you connect with the others on your journey.

Using a simple 3d6-dice roll system to resolve most issues, it also focuses on a diceless turn-based combat mini-game, in the course of which you can spew bile or reconnect old friends, make heavy strikes or sweeping tactical maneuvers.

You'll need the breath of abilities, as you'll journey along the width of Gehenna in the campaign, to numerous vistas, encountering situations to resolve, different paths to take and strange and seemingly familiar places. All of this is underlaid by handwritten narration and fittingly chosen and crafted art pieces from numerous excellent pixelart-artists from all over the world. As you wander Gehenna, you'll move on maps reminiscient of 8-bit games and hopefully save the world.
Or at least your psyche.

Weltenbrand is inspired by Games like Ironsworn, Starforged, HEART and SPIRE, but also Ultraviolet Grasslands, Path of Achra and Dominions.

This game will tell exactly one story. But with several endings, multiple paths through the campaign and very different experiences, I'm sure no two journey will be alike.
