Celebrate the joy of discovery with the DD&D Door Jamb Jam
The Door D&D (DD&D) Door Jamb Jam is running through the end of March
You see a door ahead, to the right. This is unusual in caves, and you approach it slowly and quietly. - 1983 Dungeons and Dragons Basic Player's Manual, Page 5
From the very beginning of the hobby, doors have been a crucial component in tabletop roleplaying games. They hide treasure. They pose challenges. They protect you from horrifying monsters lurking on the other side. Now, it's time to celebrate that with a game jam all about the joy of opening doors and discovering new things at the table.
The Door D&D (DD&D) Door Jamb Jam is running through the end of March on Itch.io and is open to TTRPG submissions of any kind:
- Dungeons
- Overland adventures
- Door generators
- Door NPCS
- Door spells
- Door monsters
- Door worlds
The doors are wide open so long as you build something that explores how we interact with doors in our games as we discover new things together. The only rule is to keep your submissions free of hateful or bigoted content (e.g., homophobia, transphobia, racism).
Door D&D is a term coined by Brad Kerr on the Between Two Cairns podcast as a joking replacement for OSR when discussing games that focus on the old-school style of dungeon crawling that's all about opening doors to find out what's inside. But, the joke has caught on, and we're moving beyond the old school label and embracing any kind of game that captures that spirit of exploration that brings so many of us back to the dungeon again and again in whatever form that might take for you.
So, let's come together and build some awesome new doors to open. I wonder what will be on the other side.
