One of the most exciting things that Rascal has been able to do is to cover stories about games from outside the English-speaking world. There’s articles from Italy, Germany, Brazil and soon, Argentina and South Korea as well. Of course, we’re not the only ones doing that kind of thing.

Moritz Botts is the brains behind World of RPGs, a podcast where every episode is another stop on a long journey through, well, the world of RPGs. Started in 2022, Botts has covered 19 countries so far across Asia and Europe. Speaking from first-hand experience, each episode is a hard-fought victory over the forces of time, space, and language. This is especially true because Botts always features multiple voices—designers, publishers, fans, players, game store owners, convention organizers, people from across the gamut. Even then, they only scratch the surface on a fascinating, inter-connected, global scene.

In this interview, Rascal speaks to Botts about how he started, the interesting patterns he’s seen on his digital journey, and what might happen next.
