Ann Arbor, MI - Horse Shark Games, an independent TTRPG publisher, announces the preview release of Netcrawl, the Virtual Reality Computer RPG. Netcrawl is a TTRPG about adventuring inside a computer system. Everyone goes in, seconds pass in the meatspace as players spend hours conquering a cyber-dungeon - together. The preview beta version of Netcrawl is available now at DriveThruRPG.com. Crowdfunding is slated for the fall of 2024.
Netcrawl uses the d20 System and Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG rulebook for an imaginative and dynamic VR setting that can run as a cyber sidecar to your current game or as a stand alone game with little or no notion of an outside meatspace world. Inspiration is drawn from William Gibson's seminal cyberpunk novel, Neuromancer, among many other works of science fiction and cyberpunk.
Explore the stories you want to collaboratively tell about computer technology and Artificial Intelligence without a preset adventure paths, narrative goals, or opinionated setting. Netcrawl features many tools and tables for ideation and setting generation.
The 85 PWYW page preview zine is a full RPG. Included inside are rules for 5 character classes, equipment, random adventure generator, a bestiary of ICE (Intrusion Countermeasure Entities), a short 1st level adventure, and a full-color character sheet. A copy of the DCC RPG quick start rules (free PDF) is recommended.
